The Elusive "They"

They said, "It is good that we have changed the ways we are doing things." They said, "This is not how we used to do it." They said, "We don't want to do it that way anymore." They said, "We need to be more progressive in our programs." They said, "We are tired of all this progressive stuff." They said, "If it doesn't change for the better we are going to leave." They said, "If it doesn't change back we are going to leave." They said, "If it doesn't stay just the same we are going to leave." They said, "We are tired of singing the same hymns." They said, "We are tired of learning new hymns all the time." They said, "We are glad to have a variety of hymns." They said, "We should add at least an Offertory hymn to the early service." They said, "We do not want music at the early service." They said, "The children's sermon reaches out to families." They said, "We don't like the children's sermon." They said, "The children's sermon is all right once in a while." They said, "The children's sermon adds to much time to the service." They said, "If it weren't for the children's sermon we would not attend here." They said, "You need to change worship times to accommodate more people." They said, "If you change worship times, we will stop attending." They said, "We love his sermons." They said, "We didn't like what he said, so we stopped attending." They said, "The Vestry is doing a great job." They said, "We have issues with the way things are being done, but we don't want to talk to anyone about it." The clergy and the Vestry said, "Arrgh!"
